Macarena Gómez reveals the real reason why she stopped working with José Luis Gil

During one of her latest interviews, Macarena Gómez opened up like never before to talk about her much-discussed departure from La que se avecina. The actress had no problem confessing the main reason why she decided to stop working with José Luis Gil.

It was on April 27, 2007, when this show came into our lives after becoming part of Telecinco's line-up. Throughout its 15 seasons, we have been able to follow the amusing stories of this community of neighbors.

However, although during the first seasons she was one of the main protagonists of La que se avecina, in 2011, Macarena Gómez's appearances decreased considerably.

So much so that José Luis Gil's colleague only participated in two of the 13 episodes that make up season 5 of the series by Laura and Alberto Caballero.

Nevertheless, what is true is that Macarena Gómez has never stopped being linked to this iconic television project. This is a topic she wanted to address in her latest interview on the video podcast Ac2ality.

Additionally, during her intervention, the actress from Córdoba also revealed the reasons why she decided to stop working temporarily with her colleague, José Luis Gil.

Macarena Gómez Clarifies the Reason She Stopped Working with José Luis Gil: "I Needed a Break"

During her conversation with Ac2ality, Macarena Gómez assured that, after years tied to this project, she needed a break. However, due to the good relationship she maintained with all her colleagues, including José Luis Gil, she decided not to close the doors for the future:

"I had been very intense for five or six years in La que se avecina and needed a break. So, I asked the producer, Alberto Caballero, if he had no problem with me leaving for a year to attend to other jobs. After that year, I told him I wanted to come back, and he said yes."

At that moment, the writers came up with the idea of sending Lola, Macarena Gómez's character in La que se avecina, to Miami to justify her absence. During this period, Lola would be succeeding in the U.S. with the series Los amantes de Adelita.

After this break, José Luis Gil's colleague returned to said show. However, in 2022, when the neighbors of Montenpinar moved to Contubernio 49 in season 13, the actress disappeared again.

During this time, Macarena Gómez only appeared in three episodes. For the occasion, the team came up with a very different idea: Lola decided to turn her house into a tourist apartment.

However, in season 14, Fermín Trujillo's daughter decided to leave her business aside to return to the community. "In La que se avecina there is no exclusivity," José Luis Gil's colleague assured in her interview.
