Currently, thousands of technological profiles are being sought to join their teams throughout the year.

CaixaBank and BBVA Announce New Hires

Last Sunday, CaixaBank revealed its plans to expand its tech team through CaixaBank Tech. This is its subsidiary dedicated to software development and digital solutions. The entity plans to hire 500 developers during the first quarter of 2025, which will increase its total workforce to more than 1,600 employees in this area.

The new professionals will specialize in areas such as backend and frontend development, artificial intelligence, data engineering, cloud computing, and data security, among others. The hiring will be concentrated in the Barcelona and Madrid offices, where CaixaBank already has more than 1,100 experts in technology applied to financial services.

Additionally, the entity plans to strengthen its hub in Seville, increasing the team from 40 to 200 people in the same quarter. This expansion in Seville responds to the potential that the Andalusian capital offers for attracting technological talent. It provides a conducive environment for professional growth within the group.

In the long term, CaixaBank aims to have 2,000 tech employees in these three cities over the next three years. Meanwhile, BBVA also announced on Monday its intention to incorporate 1,100 technology specialists throughout the year.

This effort will be part of a broader strategy to reach a total workforce of approximately 20,000 professionals dedicated to technological functions in all the markets where the bank operates.

In the last three years, BBVA has added nearly 10,100 new technological profiles to its team. This includes engineers, mathematicians, experts in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data management. With the new hires, the bank expects to further strengthen its ability to offer advanced and secure financial services to its customers.

One of BBVA's key initiatives is the creation of a global Software Development division, established at the end of 2021. In 2023, it launched the One project, which promotes collaboration among engineers to share best practices from both the bank and the industry in general. Additionally, BBVA Technology has expanded in Europe and America, incorporating more than 3,000 technological profiles in these subsidiaries by the end of last year.
