Important announcement about King Juan Carlos, the royal family, and their legal issues
Juan Carlos I returns to Sanxenxo and the Supreme Court dismisses the complaint that reopened his archived tax cases
Juan Carlos I will return to Sanxenxo in the coming days, although his return has nothing to do with the Royal Family or official events. The reason is much more personal: he will sail again with the "Bribón," his iconic sailboat, and participate in the regattas he is so passionate about. Coinciding with this return, the Supreme Court has dismissed the complaint filed against him, which is a significant relief in his legal troubles.
With an eye on the 50th anniversary of his coronation, the emeritus seems determined to resume part of his life, even if he does so discreetly and surrounded by his loyal circle. Could this trip symbolize an attempt to close old wounds while proving his innocence before the law?

King Juan Carlos prepares his return to Sanxenxo away from the Royal Family
Since his departure from Spain in 2020, King Juan Carlos has chosen to keep an almost invisible life. Residing in Abu Dhabi and away from the institutional agenda, his few visits to the country have caused a mix of expectation and controversy.
Sanxenxo has become his favorite refuge, a place where the monarch can reconnect with his passions. There, he is completely away from the spotlight of Zarzuela and the media scrutiny that still follows him. The Supreme Court's ruling strengthens his legal position, but it also raises a question: will the emeritus king ever reconcile with the public image he left behind?
During his stay, he will keep a low profile. He will participate in the training sessions before the regattas if weather conditions allow. Additionally, he will surround himself, as on other occasions, with a circle of close friends.

In fact, sources from the Sanxenxo Yacht Club have confirmed to the same media that a nautical calendar is being organized that could include the emeritus. However, always depending on his physical condition and the weather.
The "Bribón," the sailboat he has sailed with for decades, will once again be the epicenter of his public presence. Already on his last visit, Juan Carlos I showed that sailing remains one of his great passions.

He then shared moments with friends like Vicente Dalmau and with his daughter, Infanta Elena, with whom he spent an entire weekend. This new getaway comes at a symbolic moment, marking 50 years since his proclamation as king.
Away from Zarzuela and with the Royal Family on the sidelines, his visit will inevitably be interpreted in an institutional key. However, it responds only to a vital need: to feel free, useful, and close to the sea, which has always been his greatest refuge.
Juan Carlos I wants nothing to do with Miguel Ángel Revilla
The return of King Juan Carlos to Sanxenxo coincides with the statements of former Cantabrian president Miguel Ángel Revilla. According to sources close to King Juan Carlos, mentioned by Monarquía Confidencial, the former monarch doesn't want any contact with him. "He is above any media noise that may arise, and for him, his honor is sacred," they assure.

"There is no interest, nor any intention of any kind," the same sources emphasize. A decision that makes it clear that the emeritus will avoid any unnecessary friction with public figures that could generate more controversy around him.
The emeritus breathes easy after the Supreme Court's decision
Just a few days ago, the Supreme Court rejected reopening a complaint against him for alleged tax offenses. This complaint was filed in November by a group of retired magistrates, former anti-corruption prosecutors, and various intellectuals.
They attributed to him five offenses against the Public Treasury linked to undeclared donations and income through foundations like Zagatka and Lucum. However, the high court has been clear: there are no new data to justify reopening the case.
Moreover, the facts had already been investigated and filed by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office in March 2022, after an "exhaustive" investigation, according to the terms of the Public Ministry itself. It concluded then that there is not enough evidence of a crime, or if there had been, the facts would have already prescribed.

The Supreme Court has ratified this conclusion: the tax regularizations that King Juan Carlos made at the time were done in time and sufficiently to avoid a criminal case. Therefore, the complaint has been dismissed without further judicial proceedings.
This favorable legal context may provide a respite for the emeritus, but it doesn't eliminate the controversy nor erase the past. Although justice has spoken, public opinion keeps the conversation open about the legacy of someone who was head of state for almost four decades.
In short, the return of King Juan Carlos to Sanxenxo coincides with a court ruling that reinforces his legal peace of mind. While the Royal Family remains on the sidelines, the emeritus continues to retreat into his nautical world, away from the institutional spotlight. Will this be the beginning of a reconciliation with his history or just a discreet pause before the next chapter?
