FUNVIBA Deploys Half a Hundred Electric Scooters in Hospitals, Museums, and Downtown
Unstoppable progress of the initiative driven by the FUNVIBA Foundation, 'Living without Barriers'
A total of 24 hospitals in the public health network of the Community of Madrid will have scooters provided by the FUNVIBA Foundation this year to support people with reduced mobility visiting their facilities. This has been made possible thanks to the agreement reached with the Madrid Health Service and more recently with the Indosuez Foundation.
Similarly, during the past year 2024, FUNVIBA signed agreements with the Directorate General of State Museums and National Heritage, securing the participation of four new spaces:
• Museum of America in Madrid
• National Sculpture Museum in Valladolid
• La Granja de San Ildefonso in Segovia
• The new Royal Collections Museum, in Madrid
These spaces join the National THYSSEN-BORNEMISZA Museum, National Archaeological Museum, National Anthropology Museum, Costume Museum, and Center for Ethnological Heritage, which preceded them in the initiative.
Given FUNVIBA's goal of reaching any space, public or private, and facilitating the lives of people with Reduced Mobility, agreements were also reached last year with large shopping centers, specifically with private entities such as Merlin Properties, Nhood, or Grupo Laar to facilitate access to ten shopping centers located in different parts of the national geography;
• MARINEDA CITY (La Coruña)
• ARTURO SORIA PLAZA MADRID (Madrid)
• SALER (Valencia)
• ZENIA BOULEVARD (Alicante)
• VIALIA (Vigo)
• GRAN VIA (Vigo)
• LAGO (Seville)
• PORTAL DE LA MARINA (Alicante)
• EL ROSAL (León)
• AS TERMAS (Lugo)
This year 2025, they will be joined by the centers of NEPTUNE NASSICA PROPCO and GETAFE STYLE OUTLET, in Getafe, Madrid, under the agreement reached with NEINVER.
During the past year, a novel initiative was also carried out to ensure the quality of service provision, called "Mystery Patient," which allowed for the collection of practical data on accessibility and visibility of the service for potential users, level of knowledge, and use. A further step in the commitment of the Foundation chaired by Alfredo Camacho, with accessibility and the well-being of those who need it most.
Additionally, the campaign "Mobilizing Smiles" has been launched to continue promoting the installation of electric scooters in health centers and all types of public spaces.
The VIVIR SIN BARRERAS (FUNVIBA) foundation is a non-profit entity created in January 2020, to promote the assistance, integration, and social and labor inclusion of people with disabilities, especially those with reduced mobility problems, whether due to an accident, illness, or simply due to age.
FUNVIBA is the result of the personal experience of its Founder, Alfredo Camacho Daza, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. One of the most common manifestations of multiple sclerosis is related to mobility problems.
The social work of the FUNVIBA Foundation is made possible thanks to contributions from sponsoring institutions and companies, including the Ecopilas Foundation, Nails Factory, Optima Abogados, Jurado Abogados, Midas, Escobuilding, Quirón Salud, Calybea, Joinup, and Rissi, among others.
