'la Caixa' Foundation Helps 66,000 Children at Risk of Poverty and Exclusion in 2024

CaixaProinfancia is dedicated to breaking the cycle of inherited poverty through personalized and comprehensive support

The CaixaProinfancia program of the "la Caixa" Foundation has managed, in 2024, to reach approximately 66,000 vulnerable children and adolescents, and has provided support to more than 41,000 families exposed to poverty or social exclusion. This result has been possible thanks to the cooperation of 467 social organizations working in favor of equal opportunities for the youngest.

In a context where one in three children suffers from poverty, CaixaProinfancia is dedicated to breaking the cycle of inherited poverty through personalized and comprehensive support. Since its inception in 2007, the program has benefited more than 392,000 children and 227,000 families, consolidating itself as a model of social intervention in Spain.

CaixaProinfancia employs a comprehensive intervention model that addresses various areas, such as psychosocial support, educational reinforcement, and the improvement of family well-being. Its methodology, based on network collaboration, ensures efficient coordination between social organizations, local administrations, and the educational and health sectors, to guarantee that each child receives the assistance they need.

Education is one of the essential pillars of CaixaProinfancia, as it is considered an essential engine for social change. According to the 2022-2023 Evaluation Report, 90% of participants managed to advance to the next grade, and the graduation rate in ESO reached 82.4%, 31.2% higher than the national average for students in similar socioeconomic circumstances. These results show how the program contributes to academic success and the reduction of educational inequalities.

In addition to the educational impact, CaixaProinfancia promotes the personal and social development of children, supporting their self-esteem, their autonomy in learning, and the strengthening of their support networks. It also offers support to families, helping them identify their needs and designing personalized intervention plans to reduce their social vulnerability.

Marc Simón, deputy general director of the "la Caixa" Foundation, highlights the importance of this program, stating: "Our goal is that no child is left behind. We want to offer them the same opportunities, without their socioeconomic context limiting their future."

Through initiatives like CaixaProinfancia, the "la Caixa" Foundation reaffirms its commitment to children and the creation of a more just, supportive, and equitable society.
