Goodbye Orange and Vodafone: Customers Can't Take It Anymore and Look for Other Solutions
Vodafone and Orange must assess these data and make decisions to change such a negative trend
Orange and Vodafone continue to lose ground in the mobile phone market in Spain. This is indicated by the latest data from the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC).
According to the November 2024 reports, the two companies recorded negative figures in terms of net mobile lines. This reflects a clear trend of defection by their customers.
In November, Vodafone lost 56,471 mobile lines. This is a negative figure that underscores the company's difficulty in retaining its customers. Meanwhile, MasOrange, the group to which Orange belongs, suffered a drop of 47,248 lines in the same period.

These numbers highlight the growing frustration of users. They are looking for alternatives to these two major operators.
Vodafone and Orange Are Outpaced
On the opposite side of the scale, Digi, a low-cost operator, has gained 69,242 mobile lines. This demonstrates the appeal of its economical offers for users seeking more affordable prices. This success has allowed it to achieve a market share of 9.2%.
Movistar, although it did not reach Digi's figures, also recorded a positive balance with 5,357 additional net lines. This indicates that, despite the losses of Orange and Vodafone, users continue to value the offers of larger companies.
Another noteworthy fact is the good performance of virtual mobile operators (VMOs). They gained a total of 29,120 mobile lines in November. This growth shows that they are gaining strength in the Spanish market, thanks to their more economical rates and flexibility.

The mobile line park in Spain has reached 61.2 million, representing a 2.8% year-on-year growth. However, major operators like Vodafone and Orange are losing market share, while others like Digi are gaining ground. Although MasOrange continues to lead the market with a 41.92% share, Movistar follows closely with 26.37%, and Vodafone with 19.48%.
Why Are Customers Leaving Vodafone and Orange?
The reasons behind this drop in lines for Orange and Vodafone are diverse. Many customers are attracted by the more competitive offers of other companies. This is the case with Digi, which stands out for its low prices and quality service.
Additionally, VMOs, not having their own infrastructure, can offer more accessible rates. This makes them a very interesting option for users who want quality service without overpaying.
The lack of innovation in offers and the perception that major operators are not meeting their needs work against Vodafone and Orange. In such a competitive market, customer loyalty is constantly tested. Companies must make significant efforts to maintain their user bases.
