The day has arrived: Stéphanie and her sister Caroline of Monaco confirm the rumors
Time has allowed what remained in silence at the palace of the principality for years to be confirmed
The Grimaldi family, from Prince Rainier and his wife Grace Kelly, has been at the center of public attention. Since their earliest days, the princes of Monaco have lived under the spotlight. They have lived trapped between the shine of glamour, family tensions, and sadness, with the death of their mother when they were very young.
The siblings in the family, Princes Albert, Caroline, and Stéphanie, each have a character and personality that sets them apart. The relationship between two of them has especially stood out: Stéphanie and Caroline. Despite the years and the impact of events, their relationship has always been marked by the difference in their personal bond.

Caroline and Stéphanie: the silent conflict
Psychologist Lara Ferreiro offers an explanation about the relationship between Stéphanie and Caroline. She points out that there was never an "open conflict," but rather a "freezing conflict." According to Ferreiro, this means that, although there is no direct war, there is also no close relationship.
In her opinion, Stéphanie always felt in Caroline's shadow, who represented perfection, elegance, and balance. "Caroline was the perfect daughter, admired for her intelligence," while Stéphanie embodied a more rebellious and less understood figure.
This dynamic of "rivalry by differentiation" has been a constant pattern in their relationship. For family psychology, this is reflected in what is called the "second child syndrome," a feeling of emotional imbalance.

The bond between Caroline, Stéphanie, and Albert
Meanwhile, the relationship between Stéphanie and her brother Albert is completely different. Ferreiro describes Albert as a "protective brother," although she acknowledges that he never fully understood Stéphanie's way of being.
Unlike the rivalry with Caroline, Stéphanie did not share a competition with her brother. Both have very different approaches and roles within the royal family. While Albert represents order and the institution, Stéphanie, on the other hand, is more associated with chaos and emotions.
Despite these differences, the relationship between Stéphanie and Albert has been more fluid. "There is a foundation of genuine affection," the psychologist assures, which allows them to share moments of support, even if only intermittently.

Stéphanie's change of course
At 60 years old, Stéphanie has decided to step aside and seek a quieter life. "I feel that I've given enough and, above all, I've said everything I had to say," she recently stated in an interview. This new stage is marked by her desire to "retire" and make way for her children, who will take her place in the royal house.
Stéphanie trusts her children, Louis, Pauline, and Camille, will do "much better." In her opinion, it is already time to give up the spotlight and allow them to take the reins of the family legacy. Time, which has witnessed so many rivalries and family disputes, has also allowed Stéphanie to find her place in the family.
