They confirm the rumor about Queen Letizia and Princess Leonor: only one can do it
The rumor about the privilege that Queen Letizia has and that Princess Leonor can't have has already been confirmed
In recent days, the world of royalty has been enveloped in rumors and debates revolving around a tradition and solemn Vatican protocol: the "privilegio blanco." This privilege allows certain queens to wear white in the presence of the Pope and has returned to the center of conversation after the inaugural mass of Pope León XIV's pontificate. Many wonder if Princess Leonor can avail herself of it just like Queen Letizia and it has already been confirmed: she can't.
This event, laden with symbolism, was attended by multiple representatives of European royal houses, including Queen Letizia. The monarch captured all eyes with an impeccable white ensemble, complemented by a classic mantilla, in a gesture of respect and elegance.

But what has truly sparked interest is a question that has begun circulating on social media and in specialized media. Could Princess Leonor, as heir to the Spanish throne, also wear white in a future audience with the pontiff? The doubt seemed reasonable, given her growing institutional role. However, the magazine Lecturas has clarified this mystery by consulting a renowned protocol expert, María José Gómez Verdú.
Princess Leonor can't make use of this privilege as Queen Letizia does
The answer, forceful and clear, has dispelled all speculation: no, Princess Leonor can't yet avail herself of the Privilège du blanc. Gómez Verdú explained that this privilege is reserved exclusively for the consort queens of Catholic monarchies.

This group includes: Queen Emerita Sofía, Queen Paola of Belgium, Queen Mathilde, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, and Princess Charlene of Monaco. Of course, not forgetting Queen Letizia, who excelled in her meeting with the Pope.
Princess Leonor will be able to do so when she becomes queen after Doña Letizia
"Princess Leonor, although she is heir to the throne, doesn't yet fall into this category and, therefore, can't wear white before the pope," the expert detailed. This means that until Princess Leonor ascends to the throne and becomes queen in her own right, this symbol of Vatican distinction will remain out of her reach.

For now, only Queen Letizia can enjoy the privilegio blanco. Her impeccable presence at Pope León XIV's ceremony has been yet another display of her elegance and the institutional weight she represents.
For Leonor, time and destiny will determine if she can one day join this select tradition. Until then, the privilege remains a matter for queens.
