Bombshell at Zarzuela: the fortune Letizia will spend on her daughter Sofía
An unexpected choice shakes up the plans at the palace and opens a new chapter in the recent history of the royal family
Sofía and Leonor have grown up under the expectations of an entire country, with attention focused on them since their birth. However, Queen Letizia and the king have tried to protect their daughters from media overexposure. Even so, every decision made by the young women is scrutinized.
The personal choices of the princess and the infanta spark as much curiosity as debate. Now, Sofía will experience a new chapter in her life, which has led to unexpected consequences.

Sofía and the education that breaks the mold
Infanta Sofía has chosen a university education that is unconventional for Spanish royalty. She will pursue a degree in politics and international relations at a private university, Forward College. This institution has campuses in Lisbon, Paris, and Berlin (Lisboa, París y Berlín) and is affiliated with the University of London.
The cost of this degree amounts to €18,500 ($18,500) per academic year. "A unique journey through countries, living, learning, and forging lifelong friendships in a group of 150 students," is how the university itself describes it. In addition, the price covers accommodation in university residences in each country.

Letizia and the money she will spend on Sofía's studies
The duration of the degree will be three years, with an estimated total of €55,500 ($55,500). Classes are taught in English, in small groups, and with options to personalize the subjects. Courses include philosophy, history, or business studies, as well as language classes.
Letizia and Felipe gave their approval with one condition: that it would not be too far away. "Available for institutional activities and that her studies would be useful to the Crown," was the wish of the king and queen, according to EFE sources. The choice ensures good connection with Spain and allows her to fulfill royal commitments.

Sofía: a different path from her sister
While Leonor continues with her military training, Sofía is opting for a more academic and European profile. This choice clears up doubts about whether she would follow the same military path. On July 17, the Royal Household officially confirmed her educational route.
The admission process to Forward College includes a personal interview and evaluation by the committee. Many of its graduates work in prestigious international institutions. The education aims at a high-profile professional future and a renewed image for the monarchy.
