Antonia Georgiu, Expert: 'Carolina de Mónaco and Her Daughter Carlota Don't...'

Antonia Georgiou analyzes the complex family dynamics within the royalty, emphasizing certain attitudes

In the world of royalty, some relationships remain shrouded in mystery, surrounded by confidences and few public details. However, at times, statements emerge that reveal what lies behind those closed doors. This is the case with Caroline of Monaco and her daughter Charlotte Casiraghi, two figures who, although always present in the public sphere, maintain a private bond that has raised many questions.

Recently, more has been said about the mother-daughter relationship, marked by complexities and differences. According to royalty expert Antonia Georgiou, the bond between them has been "complex and ambivalent," but it has evolved over time. The distance and disagreements that have occurred between them have been overcome thanks to mutual respect and constant learning.

The Impact of Upbringing on the Relationship

Caroline's childhood was marked by the absence of her mother, Queen Grace Kelly, which deeply influenced her motherhood. In the book Albert II of Monaco, the Man and the Prince, Caroline expressed: “For my brother and me, Maureen was the key figure in our life.” This experience led her to raise her children, especially Charlotte, with a constant and affectionate presence, different from what she experienced.

After Stefano Casiraghi's death, Caroline's life changed drastically and she focused on raising her children in a private environment. They moved to the south of France to avoid media pressure, which allowed Charlotte to develop as a serious and disciplined person. “Charlotte became a very good student and was interested in equestrianism (...) she was a serious teenager, not a party-goer,” explained Vanity Fair.

Charlotte Follows the Legacy of Caroline of Monaco

Despite the differences they may have had, both mother and daughter have learned to value each other's efforts. “They haven't always agreed. The two women have had to overcome their differences to achieve a friendly connection,” said Georgiou. Caroline's influence has been essential in Charlotte's life, who has spoken about the values her mother instilled in her.

Charlotte is very private about her personal life, however, she shared a thought in Town & Country. "One of the most important things is that no matter how successful you are… you always have to maintain those demands." The importance of work and discipline is something Caroline passed on to her daughter and has marked Charlotte's life.

Although the relationship between the two women has had difficult moments, mutual respect has always prevailed. "I try not to talk about my very private relationship with my mother… but it is always complex and ambivalent," commented Charlotte. Despite their differences, Caroline remains an active presence in Charlotte's life and her grandchildren's, sharing key moments of their lives with them.
