The truth: only 12 separatists participated in the attempt to harass Mazón

These left-wing groups received over 2.2 million euros in aid from Ximo Puig's government.

Independence groups attempt to boycott an event with Mazón at the University of Alicante

This Friday, independence, Catalanist, and left-wing groups tried to boycott the inauguration of the rector of the University of Alicante, Amparo Navarro, at an event attended by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón. The protest was organized through social media, led by collectives like the Socialist Youth Organization of Alicante (OJS), which emerged from a split of Arran, a group linked to the Catalan CUP.

The protesters took advantage of Mazón's presence to launch criticisms related to his management of the recent DANA and collaboration with universities. Although the mobilization had low attendance, those gathered shouted slogans against the Valencian president in front of the university's Auditorium, where the event was held.

Curiously, the protest occurs in the same week that Mazón promoted a historic agreement between the University of Alicante and the Miguel Hernández University of Elche for Medicine internships in public hospitals in Alicante. However, the event wasn't focused on the president but on Navarro's rectoral succession.

The event was also attended by the Minister of Universities and general secretary of the Valencian PSOE, Diana Morant, along with Alejandro Soler, who greeted Ismael Vicedo, a reference of the Platform for Public Education and politically linked to Compromís, according to sources.

The boycott continued inside the Auditorium when a young woman interrupted the rector's oath to criticize Mazón, insult him, and question Navarro for inviting him. However, she was barely supported by other protesters, while most attendees asked her to leave.

This boycott attempt is part of a series of recent mobilizations against Mazón, some of which have been organized by Catalanist entities that previously received more than 2.2 million euros in aid during the governments of Ximo Puig, Compromís, and Podemos.

Despite the incidents, the official event proceeded as planned, marking a new rectoral cycle at the University of Alicante. Mazón, meanwhile, continues to lead key agreements for education and healthcare in the Valencian Community.
