Alicante Provincial Council plans to tender the works for the Alicante Conference Center in the spring of 2026

The Alicante Provincial Council has announced that it will tender the works for the Congress Center in 2026. The president of the Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, highlighted the collaboration between the Generalitat, the City Council, and the Port Authority to make this key infrastructure a reality.

An exhibition with the 121 architectural proposals submitted was inaugurated in the Exhibition Hall of the Provincial Palace. The exhibition will be open until February 13 and was attended by the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, the mayor of Alicante, Luis Barçala, and other authorities.

Pérez emphasized that "Alicante will have a modern and emblematic congress center." He stated that the project has been a historical demand and highlighted the political determination to carry it out. He also criticized the lack of support from the previous government and highlighted the involvement of the current Consell.

Carlos Mazón reaffirmed the Generalitat's commitment to the financing and management of the center and assured that the progress will ensure that the project materializes without turning back. He explained that a budget will be allocated when the construction plan is finalized.

Currently, the modification of the Special Port Plan and other environmental procedures are awaited. Pérez estimated that the tender specifications will be ready in 2026 and that the execution will last 30 months, depending on the permits.

The mayor of Alicante highlighted the institutional cooperation to promote the work and the importance of the center in MICE tourism, which is key to the provincial economy.

The design "San Carlos" by Juan Pablo Rodríguez Frade was selected as the winner of the preliminary project competition, with a prize of 108,900 euros. Recognitions were also awarded to other outstanding projects. The sketches can be visited in the Exhibition Hall of the Provincial Palace until February 13.
