This will be Juan García-Gallardo's replacement in VOX Castilla y León

David Hierro, VOX's representative for Palencia and current deputy spokesperson in the Cortes of Castilla y León, will be the new spokesperson for the party in the regional parliament. His appointment comes after the resignation of Juan García-Gallardo, who announced this Monday his departure from active politics.

José Antonio Fúster, VOX's spokesperson, has confirmed that David Hierro will assume the position left vacant by Juan García-Gallardo. They also indicated that the former spokesperson has officially registered his resignation in the Cortes, and Hierro will soon formalize his appointment.

García-Gallardo's departure has caused surprise, especially due to the criticisms he has directed at the national leadership of Vox. In a letter published on social media, the former spokesperson denounced that the party's decisions at the regional level were being influenced from Madrid. Although Fúster has made it clear that VOX is a party that responds to the interest of its voters, and not to the positions within the organization.

VOX is a national party at the service of Spaniards. Unity and coherence, and responsibility too.

García-Gallardo's resignation has caused surprise in the political sphere, especially due to the criticisms he has expressed toward the national leadership of Vox. In a letter published on social media, the former leader pointed out that the influence of the party's leadership in regional decisions was harming other members of the organization.

Why does Juan García-Gallardo resign and leave politics?

Juan García-Gallardo has made a decision. The leader of Vox in Castilla y León has resigned from all his positions in Castilla y León. This way, he leaves his seat and, with it, politics.

It is a decision he has made voluntarily, as he commented in his letter where he announced the news. As he points out in the document, published on his X account, it is due to "discrepancies with the national leadership." It is something he himself doesn't categorize as "bad."

"I resign from my position as VOX's spokesperson in Castilla y León, from the act of representative and my membership in the National Executive Committee." Thus, he leaves politics, "returning to my condition as a regular member of VOX and resuming my private professional activity as a lawyer."

This way, despite choosing this end, he leaves political activity but maintains his principles. This can be seen when he communicates his idea of preserving his condition as a member.

"I have always understood political activity as a renunciation if one aspires to exercise it virtuously, as I have intended and hope to have achieved. Without sacrifice, it is difficult to exercise it with the due demand. I assumed a personal sacrifice upon entering and now, I voluntarily resign upon leaving," he explains.

A choice that hasn't been easy. Despite everything, he wishes "VOX's electoral success happens soon with the help of the rest of the party's colleagues and for the good of the whole Spanish society."

Totally grateful, he bids farewell to everyone in the mentioned letter, also to his former party colleagues and voters, whom he calls "brave."

"With immense gratitude to our members, supporters, and voters, as well as the vast majority of brave public officials of VOX throughout Spain, see you soon!"

Gallardo makes this decision just a week after several elected officials of the organization in Castilla y León, now expelled, demanded greater "internal democracy." In his farewell letter, the former VOX leader has pointed out that the party's leadership has been expanding its control, progressively reducing the space for the rest of its members.
