This Will Be Carmen Pano's Statement on the Alleged €90,000 from Ferraz
The judge questions Carmen Pano and her daughter over alleged illegal payments linked to Víctor de Aldama
The judge of the National Court investigating the PSOE case has summoned businesswoman Carmen Pano as a witness.
Her testimony is scheduled for next Tuesday and will focus on her account of the alleged delivery of 90,000 euros at the socialist headquarters in Ferraz in October 2020.
According to her version, that money was delivered by order of Víctor de Aldama, identified as the main intermediary of the scheme.
On the same day, starting at 10:00 a.m., her daughter, Leonor González Pano, will also appear.
The judge's decision responds to the instruction of the Criminal Chamber, which ordered the testimony of both. All this, after Iustitia Europa appealed the initial refusal of Judge Ismael Moreno.
Links with Aldama and License Granting
The accusation maintains that mother and daughter have links with Víctor de Aldama and that he facilitated meetings with the Ministry of Industry for them.
These arrangements would have been key for the company Villafuel to obtain the hydrocarbon operator license in 2022. A process that is being investigated for its possible connection to tax fraud in the sector.
Iustitia Europa argues that the license was granted after Carmen Pano delivered 90,000 euros at the PSOE headquarters.
The organization bases its accusation on previous statements by the businesswoman to a digital media outlet, in which she claimed that the money was delivered following Aldama's instructions.
Prosecutor's Stance and Judicial Decision
The Prosecutor's Office, meanwhile, opposed the summoning of both witnesses and requested that their mobile phones be analyzed first. Their goal was to verify if there was any record supporting the alleged delivery of money in Ferraz.
However, the Criminal Chamber has rejected this request from the Prosecutor's Office and has determined that the witnesses' testimony should proceed without further delay.
The court considers that the appearance of Pano and her daughter is a relevant and necessary step for clarifying the case. Additionally, it notes that the possible verification of electronic evidence can be conducted later.
This case is part of a broader investigation into alleged irregularities related to the granting of licenses in the hydrocarbon sector.
At the center of the scheme is Víctor de Aldama, who has been identified as the main intermediary in the alleged payments and favors.
The investigation continues to advance to determine the truth of the accusations and the possible involvement of other actors in the scheme.
