This Is the Left-Wing Activist Rumored as a Moncloa Recruit

The chief of staff of the President of the Government, Diego Rubio, already has a candidate to achieve a tougher line

A new addition shows the radicalism the Government is seeking. The chief of staff of the President of the Government, Diego Rubio, has brought Idafe Martín on board as an advisor to his team, according to THE OBJECTIVE. His hiring would be seeking a tougher communication approach.

This makes him a trusted figure within the president's inner circle and reinforces a more forceful communication strategy.

But, Who Is Idafe?

Martín, known for his activism and his role as a columnist in El País, was the one who popularized the term "fachosfera." It was later used by various members of the Government, including the president himself.

From his column "Libre de estilo," he was critical of the media that questioned the Executive, even pointing directly at journalists. He even made comments about their appearance.

His discourse has been aligned with government figures like Óscar Puente and Félix Bolaños. With them, he shared the idea of the existence of a "muckraking machine" in the media landscape.

His controversy-seeking attitude has caused debate and criticism from various sectors of journalism, including professionals like Carlos Alsina at Onda Cero.

Recently, Martín announced a pause in his activity on the social network X (formerly Twitter). A network where he had gained notoriety for his critical comments toward other media. On January 10, he posted his last message temporarily:

"This is my last tweet for a while. If, in a while, this network is still functioning..."

Despite this, he left open the possibility of returning, hinting that his farewell might not be final.

Ion Antolín Didn't Fit in Moncloa

Ion Antolín, former Secretary of State for Communication of the PSOE, returned to the media spotlight after his resignation from the high-ranking position granted by Moncloa last December became known. Antolín, a trusted man of Pedro Sánchez, returns to his previous position in the party as director of communication. Just barely three weeks after leaving the mentioned position, in which he remained only 20 days.

According to Antolín, his departure from Moncloa was due to health reasons. However, it was striking that he resigned from such a relevant position to return to another with similar work demands and responsibilities.

What has really caught attention is that Antolín made this decision right in the middle of a scandal. Specifically, when the scandal over the leak of data about Isabel Díaz Ayuso's partner broke out. A controversial case in which Antolín was involved.

According to Antolín, his departure from Moncloa was for health reasons, although it was significantly surprising that he resigned from one position to remain in another that also demands a lot of activity and responsibility.

Sources have assured that the reality is different. They claim that Ion Antolín requested the dismissal "after seeing what was coming at Moncloa and got scared." That was the reason, according to sources, why he requested his dismissal.
