This Is How Complutense Justified Begoña Gómez's Professorship
Complutense University justifies the hiring of Begoña Gómez in this way
Complutense University of Madrid has defended the hiring of Begoña Gómez, the wife of the Prime Minister, arguing that her incorporation was "necessary at the European Union level." This is stated in a report sent by the institution to the Madrid Assembly, in the investigation committee analyzing Begoña Gómez's business and academic links.

The document sent by the university seeks to justify her appointment as director of the Chair of Competitive Social Transformation. However, what is striking is that it is a report dated 2013, prepared by the then director of the Master's in Fundraising Management, Juan Antonio Maroto. At that time, Begoña Gómez co-directed that master's program, thus beginning her relationship with UCM.
Over time and with Pedro Sánchez as Prime Minister, his wife expanded her presence in the public university. This, by assuming the direction of the Chair of Competitive Social Transformation and an associated master's program. However, at the start of the current academic year, both degrees were canceled amid a judicial investigation against her.
The Reasons for Her Hiring According to Complutense
Now we explain the reasons that led UCM to hire Begoña Gómez as co-director of the Master's in Fundraising Management. According to OkDiario, to ensure comprehensive training in management within the European Union, it was necessary to incorporate professionals with experience in the financing and professionalization of the third sector.

In this regard, the text highlights that the choice of Begoña Gómez was due to her "extensive and diversified experience in this field." This, arguing that her incorporation would optimize the selection and coordination of professionals in Spain and beyond.
Additionally, the report adds that the combination of a university director with an external expert would generate synergies between the academic field and the business and institutional world.
Without an Official Degree, but with an Extensive Academic Background
One of the most controversial aspects of the case is that Begoña Gómez doesn't have an official degree. This, despite having sometimes presented herself as a graduate in Marketing.
Nevertheless, she managed to consolidate a prominent academic career at Complutense University, assuming the direction of two master's programs and a chair. This has caused a strong debate regarding the selection criteria within the institution.
