This Is the Close Advisor to Sánchez They Want to Make Telefónica's Vice President

Carlos Ocaña is a person very close to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

The Government makes a move in Telefónica. It doesn't just limit itself to having removed José María Álvarez-Pallete from the presidency of Telefónica to place Marc Murtra, linked to PSC and a former executive of Indra, in his place.

Now, it has taken a new step by proposing the promotion of Carlos Ocaña, a current member of the operator's board and close to the Executive. All so that he becomes the vice president of the company. This information was reported by 'El Confidencial'.

Who Is Carlos Ocaña and What Is His Relationship with Pedro Sánchez?

Carlos Ocaña maintains a close relationship with Pedro Sánchez, the president of the Government. According to ABC, Ocaña was a co-author with Sánchez of the book based on his controversial doctoral thesis. The same one that was subject to plagiarism and has been a key figure within PSOE.

Not only because of his editorial connection with Sánchez but also for having been part of the economic team of Moncloa. All under the mandate of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

He worked in the Ministry of Industry with Miguel Sebastián and has been a board member in public companies like Paradores.

A notable aspect of Ocaña's career is his relationship with the current president of the Government through his work on the book. In 2012, Pedro Sánchez obtained his doctorate with a thesis full of academic irregularities. ABC detailed this in 2018.

Although Ocaña's name doesn't appear in the original thesis, it does appear in the book based on it. Under the title "The New Economic Diplomacy," published in 2014. The book was registered in 2013 by Delta publishing, with Pedro Sánchez as director and Carlos Ocaña as co-author.

Regarding the plagiarism, the book was even more controversial. It included at least 161 lines copied from other texts without proper citations or references.

Now, with this new proposal from PSOE and the Government, a new move is evident that could be decisive in Telefónica.
