PSOE's 'Indifference' in Miranda de Ebro Causes Fines to Expire

The Local Police can't address all violations due to an unfilled vacancy

Residents of the area have contacted EDATV to criticize the management of the current socialist government of Miranda de Ebro.

In fact, it has been residents of the area who criticize the mayor's "indifference."

The long and tense confrontation between the Local Police force of Miranda and the municipal Government team is not new.

It has been ongoing for several months and doesn't seem to have a solution.

There are more and more open fronts in this conflict, and recently a new problem has arisen. The vacant position of an administrative officer in the police service has resulted in fines imposed in recent months not being processed.

The matter is even more serious, as the most serious infractions recorded during the months of July and August 2024 are also beginning to expire.

According to ELCORREO, the Job Position List of the City Council is clear and precise. It is necessary to have an administrative officer. Also, an assistant in the Local Police department.

However, the administrative position became vacant several months ago. Therefore, the administrative assistant was temporarily assigned to take on those tasks. However, the assistant ended up returning to her original position.

This happened after some disagreements with the Government team. Which led her to refuse to perform the duties of an administrative officer, including the processing of fines.

In this situation, the Government team decided to transfer another professional from another municipal service to fill the vacancy. But this person only remained in the position for a month before being transferred again.

Thus, a new vacancy arose for the administrative position in the police service in July.

Since July, serious infractions committed in Miranda have not been processed. Many of them are about to lose their validity.

Serious infractions expire after six months without being processed. Therefore, those corresponding to July and August are about to become void.

Serious infractions include illegal parking such as double parking. In a driveway or on the sidewalk, as well as other traffic-related issues.

Although it is not yet known how many complaints are expiring or how much money the City Council would lose for this reason. The aforementioned media indicates that police sources warn that this situation could lead to a crime of administrative malfeasance by the Corporation.
