Mazón Strengthens Generalitat's Alliance With Valencian Municipalities

The president of the Generalitat also praised the new president of the FVMP, Paqui Bartual, mayor of Xirivella, for her 'commitment to municipalism'

The President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has reaffirmed the Consell's commitment to Valencian municipalities, highlighting the importance of institutional collaboration to address the needs of citizens "wherever they live." During the XVII Extraordinary Assembly of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP), Mazón emphasized that challenges in education, healthcare or financing are not exclusive to one administration but shared problems that require joint solutions.

In this regard, he cited the coordination with the FVMP in the Consell's housing strategy through the Pla Viu as an example, an initiative that seeks to expand the residential offer and guarantee access to housing throughout the territory. Additionally, he acknowledged that municipalities have assumed responsibilities that were not theirs and advocated for a second decentralization to alleviate their administrative burden.

Municipalism and Territorial Cohesion

Mazón highlighted the need to promote bureaucratic simplification and improve the management of water, industry, tourism and the environment, as well as to ensure full digital coverage in municipalities to foster their economic development. "Listening to municipalities is not an option, it's an obligation," he stated, referring to the importance of local politics in territorial structuring.

The President of the Generalitat also praised the new president of the FVMP, Paqui Bartual, mayor of Xirivella, for her "commitment to municipalism" and for her initiative to create a specific commission for municipalities affected by recent floods. Mazón assured that the FVMP must be a space of stability that ensures no municipality is left out of improvements in public services, technology and social policies.

He also had words of recognition for the work of the previous president of the FVMP, Rocío Cortés, highlighting her effort to strengthen institutional cooperation and give municipalities a voice in decision-making.
