Mazón extends free transportation for young people and creates the 'Recuperem València' card
The new 'Recuperem Valencia' card will offer free transportation for a year to people affected by the DANA
The Consell has approved the extension of free public transportation for young people under 31 and the 50% discounts on multi-trip passes until June 30, 2025. Additionally, it has created the 'Recuperemos Valencia' card, which will allow citizens from the areas most affected by the DANA last October to travel for free for one year.
The measures will benefit users of the TRAM of Alicante, TRAM of Castellón, Metrovalencia, Metrobús, and intercity buses managed by the Generalitat.
Extension of public transportation discounts
The Generalitat has decided to maintain the free transportation for young people and the general discounts due to the uncertainty of state funding. Although the Government of Spain has expressed its intention to approve aid for public transportation during 2025, it hasn't yet published any legal regulation to guarantee it.
If state support is confirmed, the Conselleria may modify the discounts to adapt them to state regulations and establish conditions for the management of the passes.
Young people who already have the pass will not need to take any immediate action, but in the coming months, an update of the card will be necessary. Those who don't yet have it can apply through the website of the Metropolitan Transport Authority of Valencia, Metrovalencia, and TRAM of Alicante.
New 'Recuperemos Valencia' card
The decree-law also regulates the new 'Recuperemos Valencia' card, which will offer free transportation for one year to people affected by the floods of October 29.
It will apply to municipalities and neighborhoods where more than 5% of the vehicle fleet was affected, reaching a population of over 400,000 people. The card can be requested at the town halls and will allow free travel on Metrovalencia, Cercanías, EMT, Metrobús, and regional buses.
With these measures, the Consell seeks to ensure mobility and alleviate the economic impact on those affected.
