The Bonus the Moncloa Advisor Was Going to Earn Serving Sánchez's Brother

Luis Carrero also aspired to a bonus with Sánchez's brother

The brother of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, left his position at the Legislature de Badajoz amid controversy over a musical project aimed at people with visual disabilities. The initiative, promoted by ONCE, sought to develop an immersive sound system. This was intended to allow people with reduced or no vision to experience the atmosphere of major events, such as matches at Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

An advisor from Moncloa, who has been implicated in the David Sánchez scandal, was going to join this project.

Luis Carrero, an advisor at La Moncloa and later a worker at the Legislature de Badajoz, was set to receive 20,000 euros meanwhileicipation in the musical project Wave Field Synthesis Espacio Luz, which was to be directed by David Sánchez.

This initiative, promoted in collaboration with ONCE, aimed to develop an immersive sound system so that people with visual disabilities could experience the atmosphere of major events.

Negotiations about the project took place in January 2022, which shows that Carrero and Sánchez had maintained a professional relationship since then. Already at the Legislature de Badajoz, Carrero acted as a sort of secretary to Sánchez, participating in the management and promotion of his musical initiatives.

For this, he used his institutional email, which ensured him an initial remuneration of 5,000 euros for coordinating music therapy activities. And a second installment of 15,000 euros for handling the documentation, promotion, and management of the project. All of this, according to the digital OkDiario.

A historian by training and with experience as a writer and teacher, Carrero was chosen to play a key role in the logistics of the initiative. Basically, coordinating workshops, working with music therapists, and ensuring the dissemination of the project among groups with visual disabilities.

The involvement of a Moncloa advisor in a project led by the president's brother and funded with public money has raised doubts. Especially regarding the transparency and compatibility of these roles, raising questions about the use of institutional resources in private initiatives.

The Other 'Salary' from a Public Entity That Sánchez's Brother Was Aspiring To

Sánchez's brother was aspiring to lead this project. This, despite already holding a high-level position at the Legislature, with a salary exceeding 50,000 euros annually. For his work in this new initiative, he intended to receive an additional 61,000 euros, distributed in three payments.

The first, of 15,000 euros, was for the supervision and coordination of the design of the Wave Field Synthesis (WFS) system, the project's key technology. The second, of 20,000 euros, was linked to his role as director of the Sound Expedition in Pamplona, whose objective was to recreate the immersive sound of the San Fermín bull runs. The largest installment, of 26,000 euros, was for his work as general artistic director throughout the season.

All of this, according to the information published by the digital OkDiario.
