The Castellón Provincial Council Presents Its Urban Regeneration Competition in Madrid
The presentation has been held at the Official College of Architects of Madrid
The Castellón Provincial Council has brought the eighth edition of the Urban Regeneration Competition (CRU) to Madrid, aiming to attract the participation of architects from the capital and reinforce the use of ceramics in urban projects.
The Deputy for Ceramic Promotion, Vicente Pallarés, has highlighted the importance of this initiative, which seeks to transform urban spaces into showcases of Castellón ceramics. "It is essential to make this competition known beyond our province to continue consolidating ceramics as a key material in the architecture of the future," he stated.
The presentation was held at the Official College of Architects of Madrid, where experts in ceramics and urbanism explained the new features of the CRU and the positive impact it has on the regeneration of public spaces. Among the speakers, Clara Vicedo, from the Spanish Association of Tile and Ceramic Flooring Manufacturers, detailed the advantages of the material in terms of sustainability and resistance. Jorge Corrales, from the Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC-AICE), also participated, explaining the operation of the Solconcer tool, designed to facilitate the selection of ceramic products in urban projects.
Silvia Pérez, head of the Ceramic Promotion Area, broke down the participation process in the CRU, its different categories, and the prizes contestants can compete for. Additionally, architects Luis Navarro and Carlos Sánchez, winners in previous editions, shared their experience and showcased projects transformed into ceramic spaces open to the public.
The competition, which this year has an investment of over 1M euros, aims to execute three new works in the province. "We not only seek to beautify our cities but also to demonstrate to the world the versatility of ceramics, its adaptability, and its contribution to more sustainable architecture," Pallarés concluded.
