Carrasco Celebrates Nou Bàsquet Femení's Triumph: 'You Are an Example for Girls'

The mayor of Castellón has welcomed the team that have been crowned champions of Spain with the Regional Team in the children's category.

The Mayor of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco, received Lucía Ventura, Ainhoa Salvador, Sofía Domínguez, and Mar Conde, players of Nou Bàsquet Femení (NBF) who have been crowned champions of Spain with the Regional Team in the children's category, today in the plenary hall of the City Hall. Accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Maica Hurtado, and the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Juan Carlos Redondo, Carrasco highlighted the inspiring role of these young athletes for the entire city.

"On behalf of the Castellón City Council, I want to tell you that we are very proud of you. You are a reference and an example for the girls of this city. Do not set limits on your dreams, your ambition, or your desire to surpass yourselves every day," stated the mayor, emphasizing the positive impact of women's sports on society.

Carrasco also highlighted the trajectory of Nou Bàsquet Femení, a club with more than 30 years of history that has established itself as a breeding ground for national champions. "You carry the name of Castellón to the highest level, positioning it as a sports capital. You are the clear example that the city has a present and future in the sports field," she added, recalling that Castellón was the European City of Sport in 2012 and continues to work to maintain that spirit.

Meanwhile, the president of NBF, Lola Valls, expressed gratitude for the municipal recognition: "These successes are the result of daily work and effort. We carry the name of Castellón with great pride throughout Spain." The players also expressed their gratitude, highlighting their commitment to continue balancing studies and sports to achieve their goals.

A tribute that reflects Castellón's commitment to grassroots sports and young female talent.
