Carlos Mazón presents new aid for recovery after the DANA at FITUR

The Valencian president also presented the Bono Recuperem Turisme, to promote the tourism and emotional recovery of those affected.

The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, announced at FITUR a new initiative, the Bono Recuperem Turisme, to promote the tourism and emotional recovery of people affected by the DANA in the Comunitat Valenciana.

This voucher, with a budget of 5.1 million euros, will allow 17,000 residents of the affected municipalities to receive aid of up to 300 euros to enjoy tourism services in hotels, campsites, and other participating establishments in the Comunitat Valenciana. Mazón highlighted that the measure, part of the Turisme Recuperem Valenciana strategy (with a total budget of 36.1 million euros), aims not only to provide economic support but also to offer emotional recovery after the floods.

"Recovery must also be emotional. These are vouchers to enjoy, rest, and relax, and we will soon announce all the details for their application," stated Mazón.

The president emphasized that this measure follows the successful path of the Bono Viatge, which in 2024 benefited 120,000 people with 125,000 overnight stays, 60% more than the previous year. However, it hasn't been confirmed if the Bono Viatge will continue in 2025.

Sustainability and energy efficiency plan

In his speech, Mazón also announced the allocation of 21 million euros in aid directed at the tourism sector to improve energy efficiency in the areas affected by the DANA. These aids will be joined by a tourism sustainability plan, with an additional budget of 10 million euros, co-financed with the Diputació de València.

"This year we are going to promote recovery as a priority axis, because it is necessary and because it comes from the heart of all Valencians," expressed Mazón, who emphasized the importance of tourism as a "great lever of recovery" for the affected municipalities.

Focus on seasonality and sustainability

Additionally, Mazón reaffirmed his commitment to sustainability and the desestacionalización of tourism in the Comunitat Valenciana, highlighting the record numbers of visitors and advocating for a "tax-free" policy to strengthen the sector.

With this series of measures, the Consell aims to consolidate the Comunitat Valenciana as a sustainable, attractive, and resilient tourist destination, while supporting the areas most affected by climatic adversities.
