Alcobendas strengthens awareness on World Cancer Day

Today, February 4, World Cancer Day is commemorated, a disease that, according to the Observatory of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, represents the main socio-health problem globally. It is estimated that by 2030, 317,000 new cases will be registered in Spain, which is equivalent to a diagnosis every 1.8 minutes.

In this context, the Spanish Association Against Cancer wants to raise awareness in society about the importance of prevention and research. For this purpose, various initiatives have been launched on the occasion of World Cancer Day.

'The Purchase of Your Life' Campaign

On February 7, a new edition of the solidarity campaign 'The Purchase of Your Life' will begin, inviting citizens to collaborate at checkout lines in supermarkets, gas stations, and physical and online stores throughout Spain. The goal is to raise funds to combat cancer-related inequalities.

In Alcobendas, the establishments participating in this campaign are:

• HIPER USERA – Calle José Hierro, 3
• MAKRO – Calle San Rafael, 2 (Industrial Park)
• SÁNCHEZ ROMERO – Avenida de Europa, 13-15 (Moraleja Green Shopping Center)

The campaign, which will be carried out between February 7 and 16, will allocate the funds raised to cancer prevention, financing free support and accompaniment services for patients and families, and research on the disease.

The Spanish Association Against Cancer offers free programs and services that are attended by nearly 1,200 professionals in various specialties, in 52 provincial headquarters and more than 2,000 local spaces. An example of these services is the Active Space Madrid North, located at Calle Velarde, 14 in Alcobendas, where care is provided to people affected by cancer and their families.
