Alarms Go Off in Comunidad Valenciana Due to Heavy Rain

Heavy rains and red alert in the Valencian Community: up to 180 liters per square meter are expected

The rainstorm will continue to set the tone in the Valencian Community until at least next Thursday, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). Since the beginning of the episode, the rainfall has been intense, with accumulations that have reached 120 liters per square meter (31.7 gal/sq. yd.) in some localities, such as Chella.

In light of the persistence of the storm, AEMET has updated its risk warnings and raised the rain alert to red level in the interior of the province of Castellón. This warning, which will remain in effect until noon on Tuesday, indicates the possibility of up to 180 liters per square meter (47.6 gal/sq. yd.) in the interior regions.

It Is Recommended to Avoid Unnecessary Travel

The most intense rainfall has been recorded in interior areas, although the rains have also affected the coast, generating significant accumulations in different areas of the Valencian Community. The situation has caused some incidents, such as road closures, overflow of small watercourses, and occasional flooding in municipalities affected by torrential rains.

Authorities have urged the population to exercise extreme caution, especially in flood-prone areas and on secondary roads, where accumulated water can hinder circulation. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary travel and stay informed through official emergency and meteorological channels.

The forecast indicates that instability will continue in the coming days, with rainfall that could remain intense in different parts of the community. Although the rain episode could begin to subside starting Thursday, there remains uncertainty about the exact evolution of the storm.

In this scenario, the Generalitat Valenciana has activated emergency protocols and reinforced coordination with Civil Protection and Fire services to respond to any incidents that may arise from the heavy rainfall.
