Urgent Notice From Banco Santander and Bbva: Customers Using Bizum Will Notice It

Banks remind that there are limits when operating with this money sending and receiving tool.

If you are a Bizum user, one of the most popular methods for sending and receiving money quickly and securely, this will interest you. Banco Santander and BBVA have issued an important notice that will affect customers using this payment platform in 2025.

This tool sets a series of limits that citizens must take into account. These changes have been implemented to increase security and prevent fraud both among individuals and with public administration.

The New Limits at Banco Santander and BBVA

One of the most notable changes is that there are now restrictions for both individual payments and the total monthly use of Bizum. For example, the minimum amount that can be sent or received will be 0.5 euros.

The maximum amount for each single payment will be 1,000 euros. Meanwhile in a single day, the maximum that can be transferred using Bizum will be 2,000 euros. If we talk about a full month, the maximum limit that can be sent with Bizum will be 5,000 euros.

In addition to the amount limits, there are also restrictions on the number of payments that can be received or made per month. A user can only receive a maximum of 60 payments through Bizum during the month. As for sending, the maximum number of recipients to whom money can be sent or multiple requests made is 30.

Why Are These Limits Applied?

The main reason why Banco Santander and BBVA have decided to establish these limits is to prevent fraud. With the growth of Bizum as a payment platform among individuals, cybercriminals have found an opportunity to carry out fraud. These new caps aim to protect users both in individual transactions and in interactions with public administration.

With this measure, the banks intend to ensure that operations are secure and easy to track. While the limits may be inconvenient for some, it is important to remember that they are designed to protect users.

For most users, these changes will not pose a problem. The established limits are quite broad and cover the vast majority of customers' needs. However, those who make very frequent or large payments will need to take these new caps into account.

It is important to remember that if you exceed any of the established limits, you will not be able to make more payments until the following month.
