These Are the Products Without Phytosanitary Controls That Arrived in Andalucía in 2024
The authorities continue to strengthen controls to prevent health risks and protect agricultural production.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food has warned that Andalusia recorded an average of two daily attempts to introduce products without phytosanitary controls. This occurred during the first six months of 2024.
The food products did not meet the minimum requirements for marketing, planting, or consumption. While awaiting the annual data, the community has faced multiple cases of goods rejected for not complying with health and food safety regulations.
According to official reports, Almería has been one of the most affected provinces, especially in the floriculture sector. In this area, various plants and related products were discarded due to the presentation of health certificates considered "invalid or inadequate."
Meanwhile, in the field of fresh vegetables, prohibited vegetables and goods that did not meet the required phytosanitary conditions for marketing were detected.

Authorities continue to strengthen controls to prevent health risks and protect the community's agricultural production. This, while warning about the importance of ensuring compliance with current regulations in the sector.
Inspections at the Port of Algeciras have detected multiple non-compliances with the entry requirements for agricultural products. This, according to official reports.
Among the rejections are fresh fruits that did not meet special regulations, as well as potatoes intended for consumption that presented health certificates with incorrect information and signs of pests subject to quarantine in the European Union.
The problem is not limited to Algeciras. Similar incidents have also been recorded in other Andalusian provinces. In Huelva, fresh vegetables in poor condition were rejected, deemed unfit for inspection.
Meanwhile, in Málaga—both at the port and the airport—and in Seville, cases of imported agricultural products that did not meet the required phytosanitary controls have been reported.
Authorities continue to reinforce inspections to ensure food safety and prevent the entry of products that may pose a risk to local health or agricultural production.
