The Theory About the Complaint That Took Frank Cuesta to Jail in Thailand

The renowned herpetologist Frank Cuesta has been detained in Thailand, allegedly for the possession of illegal species in his sanctuary 'Libertad'. The news has been spread on social media by the YouTuber Javi Oliveira, who claimed that the arrest occurred after an anonymous report was sent to the Thai authorities. Meanwhile, Dalas Review has offered an alternative version, indicating that a former employee of Cuesta might be behind the accusation.

The Reason for the Arrest, According to Javi Oliveira

Javi Oliveira reported through his account on X that Frank Cuesta was arrested after a police raid on his sanctuary 'Libertad'. According to the YouTuber, the report came from a visitor to the sanctuary who allegedly alerted the authorities about the presence of species. That, supposedly, could not be kept in captivity.

"It turns out that someone who has been with Frank has sent some emails reporting that there are animals in the sanctuary that supposedly can't be kept", explained Oliveira. The sanctuary 'Libertad' has operated for years without issues, which has caused surprise in Cuesta's community of followers. Who has always documented on social media his rescues and the condition of the animals under his care.

Oliveira also expressed his suspicions about the case: "This catches my attention because Frank was complying with those requirements. But it is supposed that the license he had has been taken away and he has been reported".

Dalas Review's Version: A Betrayal by a Former Employee

Meanwhile, the YouTuber Dalas Review holds a different version of the events.  According to him, the report that led to Cuesta's arrest was allegedly filed by a former friend and employee of the sanctuary. Who was supposedly upset because Cuesta decided to remove him and instead left the management in the hands of his son, Zorro Cuesta.

Dalas claims that this former collaborator had gathered documents and evidence to send them by email to the Thai police. Where he reports alleged animal abuse and the lack of licenses in the sanctuary.

However, Dalas himself has questioned the legitimacy of these accusations. He highlights that Cuesta has always publicly shown his dealings with animals and that, on several occasions. Cuesta has worked alongside the authorities to rescue species from illegal trafficking.

The YouTuber expressed his outrage in a video: "Frank Cuesta is not a criminal nor a bad person. The reason he is currently in prison is for alleged animal trafficking, the most absurd thing in the world. We all know that he rescues and rehabilitates animals, many he releases into the wild and others he cares for permanently because they can't survive on their own".

Dalas also criticized the way the authorities have treated Cuesta. He claims that his arrest was carried out with a massive police raid. As if it were a serious crime. 

He also pointed out that Cuesta is in precarious conditions in jail, sleeping on the floor and not receiving food from the prison, relying on his family to be able to eat.
