Queen Letizia appears with Felipe and everyone notices what's around her neck

The valuable pearl necklace worn by Queen Letizia at the ABC Journalism Awards draws everyone's attention

Queen Letizia reappeared alongside King Felipe at the ABC Journalism Awards, but what caught everyone's attention was her pearl necklace. The piece carried an important message, as it belonged to Queen Victoria Eugenia, great-grandmother of the current monarch. This gesture became the absolute protagonist of an elegant, minimalist, and symbolic style.

Once again, Queen Letizia showed her ability to communicate through fashion. But why has this necklace caused so much expectation? What does it mean for her to wear a historic piece of jewelry again at a time like this?

The presentation of the Mariano de Cavia Awards is one of the most significant events for Casa Real. This time, the ceremony, held at ABC's headquarters in Madrid, was attended by Felipe and Letizia.

The awardees were Jorge Fernández Díaz, Carlos Alsina, and Txema Rodríguez, three prominent names in Spanish journalism. But, as has happened in previous editions, the focus was not only on the content of the event.

Queen Letizia, always meticulous in every public appearance, once again gave a lesson in sober and symbolic elegance. She chose a black dress by Sybilla with a strapless neckline, but it was the pearl necklace that captured the interest of experts, photographers, and attendees. It was not just any accessory: it was a historic piece that connects past and present.

This is a piece of jewelry that belonged to Queen Victoria Eugenia, wife of Alfonso XIII. In addition, it is part of the so-called "joyas de pasar." By tradition, these pieces must be worn only by the reigning or consort queens of Spain, thus consolidating their status and legitimacy.

With 37 large pearls perfectly set, this necklace had already been worn by Letizia on previous occasions. Among them, the Pascua Militar or the 2016 Princess of Asturias Awards stand out. Her choice was not random: at an event in honor of journalism, she opted for a piece of jewelry that evokes the weight of the monarchy.

This gesture can be interpreted as a way to assert her institutional role, to connect with previous generations, and to strengthen the image of continuity in the royal family. There is no doubt that Queen Letizia doesn't improvise, especially when it comes to her attire.

Although the necklace attracted the flashes, the dress that accompanied it was no less significant. Letizia debuted a black design by Sybilla, one of the great fashion creators in Spain. It was a piece made of silk crepe, with a strapless neckline and midi length (about 47 in.[120 cm]), which fit the body thanks to an inner corset.

This type of silhouette has already been used by the queen at other important events. In 2019, for example, she also chose black with a mesh and fringe dress that made an impression in the specialized press. The color, far from being a neutral choice, represents elegance, power, and sobriety.

The rest of the styling coherently accompanied that message of elegant sobriety. Letizia completed her outfit with low black patent leather pumps, very suitable for her well-known foot discomfort. She also carried a satin clutch from the same brand, the Mary model, which she had already used on other occasions.

As additional jewelry, she chose small pearl earrings, in harmony with the necklace, and her now usual Coreterno ring. As for her hairstyle, she wore her hair down, with a side part and soft waves, reinforcing that image of studied naturalness.

The makeup was also part of the message. She opted for pink eyeshadow, black eyeliner, and lips with clear gloss, giving freshness to her face. Her perfectly defined eyebrows structured her gaze, and her arms, slightly tanned and with a satin finish, added a touch of discreet luminosity.

Queen Letizia's appearance alongside King Felipe at the ABC Awards has confirmed her mastery of aesthetic and institutional symbolism. The valuable pearl necklace not only enhanced her style, but also evoked history, lineage, and continuity. A silent gesture, but with a deep message about the present and future of the monarchy.
