Queen Camilla Can't Take It Anymore and Reveals What's Happening with Charles III
The Monarch of England, Camilla, Speaks Openly About What She Experiences with Her Husband, King Charles III
Charles III and Camilla recently celebrated two decades of marriage, a milestone that few expected when they formalized their relationship in 2005. Over the years, their union has been the subject of attention both for their love story and their private life. One of the most talked-about aspects of their relationship is that, since the beginning of their marriage, they have preferred to sleep in separate bedrooms.
A Unique Approach to Living Together
This detail about their life as a couple is not a sign of distance but a way to find balance and respect for personal space. As royal expert Helena Chard explains: "They've known each other since they were young and are great friends." Charles III and Queen Camilla enjoy their personal independence, which allows them to have a more balanced relationship.

They live in Clarence House, where each has their own bedroom, in addition to a shared room they use on occasion. Although some media attributed this decision to Charles III's back problems, it also reflects a common philosophy between them: the importance of personal space. This routine is not uncommon in royalty, as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip of Edinburgh also slept in separate rooms.
Personal Space in Their Residences
The preference for having their own space is also reflected in the residences they both have. King Charles III enjoys his retreat at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, where he withdraws to rest and disconnect from his royal duties. Meanwhile, Queen Camilla continues to make Ray Mill House in Wiltshire her weekend home.
Helena Chard also mentioned that, before her marriage to Charles, Camilla made a pact with him: "Ray Mill House would be her refuge." She enjoys this space to get away from the real world and spend time with her children and grandchildren. This decision to keep separate spaces to rest and recharge has allowed them to have a more balanced relationship adapted to their needs.

A Love That Has Overcome Trials
The relationship between Charles and Camilla has overcome many difficulties: although they met in 1970 during a polo match in Windsor, their story was not easy. After a relationship that ended in 1973, Camilla married Andrew Parker-Bowles and had two children. Meanwhile, Charles married Diana of Wales in 1981, although it soon became apparent that the relationship between Charles and Camilla had not ended.
After years of tensions, divorces, and the tragic death of Lady Di, Charles and Camilla began to appear in public in 2003. In 2005, they finally married with the permission of Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, they have kept a solid relationship, although always under the critical eye of the media and public opinion.
