Many Orange customers have asked in recent days if they will be able to watch the final rounds of the Champions League in 4K quality. This possibility had been common in previous seasons, when some matches of the competition were broadcast with this impressive image quality.
However, on this occasion, the operator has confirmed that it won't be possible to enjoy the matches in 4K resolution. At least during the round of 16 and round of 32 of the Champions League. These will be the upcoming rounds we have ahead.
Orange indicates that it depends on third parties
The reason behind this decision doesn't depend directly on Orange, but on Movistar. Telefónica's company is responsible for broadcasting the Champions League matches in Spain. Movistar has the exclusive rights to the competition, which means they are the ones who decide whether the matches are broadcast in 4K or not.
Although in previous years it was possible to enjoy some matches with this resolution, in this edition of the Champions League it is still unknown. We will have to wait a few weeks.
However, this doesn't mean it's a definitive situation. If Movistar decides to broadcast some of the more advanced rounds in 4K, Orange subscribers will also be able to enjoy this content. That is, as long as they meet the necessary requirements.
Requirements to watch soccer in 4K with Orange
To watch soccer in 4K through Orange TV, it is necessary to meet certain technical requirements. First, customers must have a direct fiber connection. Since fiber is what allows a data transmission speed sufficient to support the high image quality of 4K.
Additionally, the TV must be compatible with 4K resolution. Today, most modern TV models meet this requirement. But it is always advisable to verify that the device you own is prepared for this technology.
