The News About Frederik and Mary of Denmark That Leaves Queen Letizia Speechless
The latest report on Federico and Mary of Denmark has caused quite a stir, surprising many with the figures
The Danish Royal House has released the details of its annual budget, which has caused a great stir. This report reveals information that has captured the attention of the media and the public. In the recent history of the Danish monarchy, there is no record of events like these.
The surprise of the Danes and the media focuses on the proclamation of Frederik X and Mary of Denmark. The Danish royal family's financial report has been especially scrutinized. All of this is due to the large amount of money invested in various aspects of its operation.

The High Cost of Frederik and Mary's Proclamation
The coronation of Frederik X and Mary of Denmark has been one of the most expensive in the recent history of the Danish monarchy. There were 6.5 million Danish kroner invested in the proclamation ceremony, which has caused debates. Despite the criticism, the royals have defended these expenses as part of a natural process of transition and renewal.
The report indicates that the coronation ceremony cost 6.5 million Danish kroner, which is approximately 871,000 euros. Although the figure may seem small compared to the coronation of Charles III, it is much higher than that of Felipe VI. The budget for the coronation of Felipe VI and Queen Letizia was only 132,000 euros, highlighting the high spending of the Danish royalty.

The Increase in Danish Monarchy's Expenses
The annual budget of the Danish royal family reached 133.4 million kroner in 2024, a significant increase compared to the previous year. This increase is mainly due to the arrival of Frederik X and Mary to the throne. Additionally, considerable investments were made in infrastructure renovation, cybersecurity, and modernization of the Royal House.
Dan Folke Pedersen, the financial director of the Royal House, explained that the increase in expenses is due to several reasons. These include the renovation of Marselisborg Castle and the internal reorganization of the Royal House. "The new organization includes expenses for retirements and resignations, hiring, and office space conditioning," Pedersen said in the report.

Royal Salaries and the Increase for Frederik X
The report also revealed the increase in Frederik's allowance, which rose to 17.3 million Danish kroner, equivalent to 2.2 million euros. This amount covers not only the king's personal expenses but also the maintenance of palaces and the functioning of the monarchy. Queen Mary receives 10% of this amount, reflecting her role within the royal family.
Meanwhile, the annual allowance for Prince Joachim and Princess Marie was 4 million kroner, around half a million euros. Although these numbers have caused criticism, the Danish royal family justifies these expenses as necessary for their operation. In their report, they assert that these adjustments are essential to maintain the stability of the Danish monarchy in times of change.
