Kings Frederik and Mary of Denmark admit the worst news: it's now official
Frederik and Mary of Denmark publicly acknowledge a severe blow that deeply affects the royal family
The history of families is marked by moments of celebration and, also, of deep sadness. Royal families are not immune to this, and amidst the protocol, there are situations that reveal human vulnerability and strength. When such an important event affects these dynasties, it reflects the weight of the bonds that unite them.
The royal houses of Sweden and Denmark have kept a relationship that is always close. It has been based on respect, mutual support, and certain family ties. In these challenging times, that union is manifested more strongly than ever, showing a human face that transcends power and title.

A legacy marked by dedication and social commitment
Countess Marianne Bernadotte, who passed away at 100 years old, was much more than a member of royalty. She was an actress at the Royal Dramatic Theatre of Stockholm and a passionate advocate for medical research. The latter focused, especially, on pediatric ophthalmology and dementia.
Together with her husband, Prince Sigvard Bernadotte, she created a foundation that has left a deep mark on society. Her life was an example of commitment and dedication. This was highlighted in the official tribute paid to her by the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
A family that has known loss and unity
Before her marriage to Prince Sigvard, Marianne had three children with Gabriel Tchang, of whom she lost two, facing deep grief. The Swedish royal family also suffered the recent loss of Princess Birgitta, sister of King Carl Gustaf, who passed away in December 2024 at 87 years old.
The king expressed with emotion: “My sister was a person full of life and sincerity, whom we will miss deeply.” The princess was a beloved figure. Her passion for golf and her namesake tournament left a legacy on the island of Mallorca, where she lived her final years.

Denmark and Sweden, together in mourning and hope
The death of such important members of the Swedish family has further strengthened the ties between the Danish and Swedish royal houses. Frederik and Mary have shown their solidarity and respect, reaffirming the importance of mutual support in the royal family.
In these difficult moments, family strength and love are the best tribute. The memory of these exceptional women will remain alive, reminding us that behind the shine of the monarchy, there are emotions, affection, and humanity.
