King Felipe says enough, makes it official and makes Queen Letizia feel happy
The father of Princess Leonor, Felipe VI, has made firm and forceful statements that have attracted attention
King Felipe is once again at the center of current events. This time, he is for a reason that has surprised and moved many. During an important institutional event, he decided to take a firm stand, raise his voice, and deliver a message that has not gone unnoticed.
He said enough, enough to the noise, to the tension, and to the speeches that question the democratic foundations of the country. He did so in a direct, forceful, and official manner.

His words, as necessary as they are timely, have surely filled Queen Letizia with pride and joy. Yes, because she has always defended democratic values with discretion and consistency.
King Felipe defends democracy and stands up for justice
King Felipe knows that our society is experiencing a turbulent moment. Yes, because there are those who say we live in a dictatorship or where all authorities are attacked and lumped together. In response, he decided to say enough and make it official that things are not like that.
The setting was the ceremony for the Gumersindo de Azcárate Award to the Judiciary. The event was organized by the College of Registrars of Spain together with the Autonomous Deanery of the Registrars of Madrid. The award, presented at the Casino de Madrid, was received by Isabel Perelló, president of the Supreme Court and the General Council of the Judiciary.
In that context, the king delivered a firm speech in defense of democratic institutions and, in particular, the role of justice. His exact words were these: "To recognize the Judiciary is to recognize and celebrate these almost five decades (casi cinco décadas) of democratic history."
"A time of coexistence, of rights and freedoms, of economic progress and improvement of social well-being. This time has been possible because our judges and magistrates safeguard that principle on which our institutional framework and our civic conscience rest. Yes, the principle of equality before the law."
This message was not accidental. The father of Princess Leonor wanted to respond implicitly to those who question the work of judges and stir up hatred toward institutions. He did so at an especially tense moment, in which polarization and widespread criticism have increased.
The reaction from King Felipe that must have filled Queen Letizia with pride
This stance from King Felipe has been well received by numerous legal and social sectors, and it has also been interpreted as a gesture of courage. Meanwhile, for Queen Letizia, who is committed to constitutional values, it must have been yet another sign of the firm and thoughtful character of her husband.
She, always prudent in institutional matters, has kept up constant support over the years for educational, social, and legal causes. Seeing her husband stand up clearly in defense of the rule of law and the legitimacy of judges reinforces her role as a guarantor of democratic stability.

At a time when certain sectors are trying to equate present-day Spain with authoritarian regimes, the monarch wanted to make it clear that we live in a consolidated democracy, though with challenges. That democracy exists thanks to the efforts of all institutions, especially a justice system that works quietly but effectively.
What King Felipe has done is not just another speech. It is proof that the head of state knows when it is necessary to speak clearly. In this case, he did so to defend what unites us: democracy, coexistence, and respect for the law.
