Goodbye to what was expected: King Charles is speechless after learning Princess Charlotte won't do it

The surprising plan of Kate Middleton and Prince William for Princess Charlotte's future

Tradition could be about to break in the British royal family. While everyone took for granted that Princess Charlotte would follow the same academic path as her older brother, Prince George, a recent revelation has even surprised King Charles III.

Apparently, the Prince and Princess of Wales have made an unexpected decision about their daughter's educational future. Although George will begin his studies at Eton College this September, Charlotte won't go down the same route. Sources close to the family say her parents are considering another institution, one that connects directly with her mother's past: Marlborough College.

Princess Charlotte, a U-turn

This choice represents a notable change from what had been speculated until now. Marlborough, located in Wiltshire, is a prestigious coeducational school where figures like Princess Eugenie and Pippa Middleton also studied. It's known for its focus on the artistic, scientific, and personal development of students, something that reportedly weighed on William and Kate's decision.

The news comes just as Eton is preparing to welcome George, who turns 12 in July. The heir to the throne is already enrolled and will start there in the fall. This school, with a cost close to $82,000 per year, is located very close to Adelaide Cottage, the current residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales in Windsor. Everything indicates that George has been on the list of future students for years and that his admission is now fully confirmed.

However, Charlotte's situation won't be a simple mirror of her brother's path. Although all three children—George, Charlotte, and Louis—currently share a classroom at Lambrook School, everything suggests that their paths could separate later on.

From within the family circle, it has been hinted that the decision was made after carefully considering each child's individual strengths. The Princess of Wales knows Marlborough well, since she was a student there before becoming a public figure. Her positive experience there could have influenced the proposal for Charlotte.

King Charles, who was recently informed of this possible deviation from the traditional path, reportedly received the news with understanding, although some consider it a bold move. After all, Eton is more than a school for the monarchy: it's an institution symbolizing British lineage and elite. William and Harry were students, although the latter, as he revealed in his memoirs, didn't have a satisfactory experience.

Harry described Eton as a difficult environment, more suitable for outstanding students than for those with different talents. His older brother, on the other hand, has always expressed gratitude for the education he received there.

Charlotte, with a more discreet and creative profile, could benefit from a more diverse environment like the one Marlborough offers. Although Kensington Palace hasn't made any official statements, rumors are already circulating strongly among the educational staff.

This unexpected turn in the princess's school planning marks a generational change. It also reveals a new way of understanding the role of young royals. They're less tied to traditional duty, more focused on what they really need.
