DEKRA welcomes RNE to discuss the main defects in the Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV)
The DEKRA ITV Boadilla station has been the setting for a special recording by Radio Nacional de España (RNE), in which an essential issue for road safety has been analyzed: the main defects that prevent passing the Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV).
During the day, Manuel Sánchez, Technical Manager, and Jorge Reillo, ITV Supervisor at DEKRA, shared their experience before RNE's microphones, explaining the most frequent failures detected in inspections and offering essential recommendations for drivers to keep their vehicles in optimal condition.
Main Defects Detected in the ITV
17% of vehicles do not pass the ITV on the first inspection, while a concerning 33% of drivers do not attend the technical inspection, reflecting a high rate of absenteeism. Among the most common deficiencies that can prevent obtaining a favorable result, the following stand out:
• Anomalies in the braking system
• Wear or inadequate condition of the tires
• Deficiencies in lighting and signaling
• Pollutant emission levels exceeding permitted limits
• Misalignments in suspension and steering systems
Recommendations to Pass the ITV Without Issues
DEKRA ITV emphasizes the importance of performing preventive vehicle maintenance, paying special attention to essential elements such as brakes, lights, tires, and emissions. Additionally, attending the inspection in advance and in optimal conditions helps avoid unnecessary rejections.
