Banco Santander reaches historic profits in 2024

Banco Santander achieves record profits of 12.574 billion in 2024 and plans share buybacks of 10 billion

Banco Santander, under the presidency of Ana Botín, has recorded its highest profit in history with 12.574 billion euros during 2024, representing a 13.5% increase compared to 2023. This result has been driven by notable revenue growth in all areas and regions, along with the addition of eight million new customers, raising its total to 173 million. With this achievement, the entity consolidates its profit record for the third consecutive year.

The market's reply was swift, as the bank's shares rose more than 8% during the day.

In a statement, President Ana Botín highlighted:

"We have achieved record results for the third consecutive year, with growth in revenue, profitability, and shareholder remuneration. In 2024, revenue increased by 8%, return on tangible equity reached 16.3%, and the cash dividend per share increased by 39%."

Botín also emphasized Santander's position as one of the most important retail and consumer banks globally, with the ability to develop its own technological platforms to offer high-quality products and services while optimizing operating costs. Additionally, the bank is confident in maintaining this positive trend in profits and profitability during the 2025 fiscal year.
