No one expected this new rival: Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T are already fearing the worst

The three major operators in the United States suspect that there may be a significant loss of customers

The three major mobile phone companies in the United States, Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T, have just received an unexpected shake-up. A new competitor has appeared in the market, and it's not just any player. It's Trump Mobile, a brand backed by President Donald Trump's family.

This new phone service promises to change the rules of the game. It offers 5G connectivity and an unlimited plan for $47.45 per month, known as Plan 47.

But the most surprising thing is that Trump Mobile will use the networks of Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile to operate, since it will function as an MVNO. That is, it doesn't have its own network, but rents the use of existing networks.

The Trump Organization has decided to expand its presence in the business sector, adding mobile telephony to its list of businesses. It already includes top-level hotels, golf courses, casinos, and retail stores. Trump Mobile was officially announced a few days ago.

According to Donald Trump Jr., this new project is designed for customers who value quality, performance, and national pride. In his words, "it's a company born on American soil, made for Americans."

Why does it worry Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile?

It may seem ironic that Trump Mobile depends on the networks of the same companies it now challenges. The real blow may come from its media power and its loyal base of followers. It's not just a mobile service, it's a brand with a very strong political and cultural charge, which could translate into massive adoption by its electoral base.

In addition, the launch of the T1 Mobile phone, scheduled for August, raises the stakes even higher. This smartphone will come with a gold case, advanced technology such as a 6.8 in. (17.3 cm) screen, fingerprint sensor, and facial unlock with artificial intelligence. Its price will be $499 and it will run on Android.

Plan 47 costs more than some existing prepaid plans. For example, the low-cost services from the same major carriers, such as Verizon's Visible, AT&T's Cricket Wireless, and Metro by T-Mobile, are cheaper. They offer unlimited plans for about $40 per month.

However, Trump Mobile seems to be betting more on symbolic value than on price.

A move that could affect the sector

Beyond price or technology, what really makes Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T nervous is the impact Trump Mobile could have on the market. With a mix of ideology, commercial patriotism, and aggressive marketing, this new company is entering with force.

It hasn't been created to compete as a simple alternative. It's a political statement, a consumer product with an ideological stamp. That's what makes it an unexpected and potentially powerful rival.
