Dollar Tree Will Rebuild Its Center in Marietta and Recover Hundreds of Jobs

The Dollar Tree distribution center in Marietta, Oklahoma, which was destroyed by the 2024 tornado, will be replaced by a new facility. The company has announced that this center will have an area of one million square feet and will be fully operational by the spring of 2027. The new facility will not only provide fresh products and services to the chain but will also restore hundreds of jobs in the region.

Dollar Tree Suffered the Impact

The devastating EF4 tornado, which touched down in Marietta in April 2024, destroyed the distribution center, several homes, businesses, and the city's only grocery store. The tornado also severely affected the local hospital and the nursing home. The community, which has only 2,800 residents, lost its main source of employment, as the distribution center employed 450 people.

Technological and Operational Improvements

The new plant will feature technological advancements, including a high-speed sorting system. This technology will allow Dollar Tree to better manage its inventory and improve operational efficiency. Additionally, it will be able to meet the demand of its more than 700 stores in the western and southwestern United States.

The facility will have a temperature control system, ensuring that products are kept in optimal conditions.

The Future of Marietta and Dollar Tree

The impact of the center's opening in the region is significant. Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt commented that Dollar Tree's reinvestment is very important. A testament to how vital it is for small communities to have strong business relationships.

"The reopening of the distribution center will bring 400 jobs to Oklahoma. It's a clear example of what it means to build strong local relationships," Stitt stated.

This step also shows Dollar Tree's commitment to rebuilding Marietta while strengthening the local economy. The company's reinvestment is a testament to the city's resilience, which, after the tragedy, is beginning to see a recovery.
