Pope Francis Bergoglio Dies After Several Weeks in a Delicate Situation
Pope Francis Passes Away This April 21
Francisco Bergoglio has passed away at 88 years old. This occurred after several weeks in a delicate state of health. On April 20, Francisco briefly received U.S. Vice President JD Vance at his residence in Rome.
Pope Francis received U.S. Vice President JD Vance this Sunday at the Casa Santa Marta residence. It was a brief meeting in which they exchanged greetings and well wishes for Easter, according to the Vatican press office.
The meeting took place at 11:30 a.m. (09:30 GMT) and, according to the brief statement, "lasted only a few minutes, just enough time to exchange Easter greetings." Meanwhile, in St. Peter's Square, the Easter Sunday Mass was being held, presided over by Cardinal Angelo Comastri.
It is worth noting that the pontiff did not participate in the Holy Week liturgical celebrations, as he is still in the process of recovery after being hospitalized for 38 days due to bilateral pneumonia. He was discharged on March 23, although he did make a special appearance to give the 'Urbi et Orbi' blessing.
However, his respiratory problems, which seemed to have worsened in recent weeks, have ended the life of Francisco Bergoglio.
